 THE "spiritual" effects of so-called magic mushrooms, hallucinogenic mushroomlast for more than a year and help patients with fatal diseases or addictions, US researchers say.
In 2006, Roland Griffiths of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and colleagues gave psilocybin, the active ingredient in the mushrooms, to 36 volunteers and asked them how it felt.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland found that the majority of 36 volunteers who took psilocybin in controlled conditions continued to feel the beneficial effects for more than a year afterwards, the study, published Monday, showed.
